Mardi Gras in Gulfport, MS, is a Carnival season that kicks off the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday. It is full of a fun-filled experience with parades, float decorating, costume contests, and plenty of beads! The City of Gulfport and its local residents put on a number of parades, large and small, leading up to and including Fat Tuesday. The Grand Marshals of the Grand Parade traveled down U.S. 90 twice, once in the morning, and again in the late afternoon. Other parade routes go through the downtown area as they mark the occasion with festive music and plenty of colorful characters. For those looking for something a little more unique, there is a Children’s Parade, where little ones and their parents dress up and join in the fun. A Mardi Gras Ball is held the night before Fat Tuesday and features grand floats, fine food, and Cajun music for an unforgettable evening.
